Skill: NET-NODE to Configure Advanced DEA NET230/NET24 Board Features
Skill level: 3
Technical
Learning Objective:
Learn how to use the NET-NODE module and DEAinstaller app to configure advanced automation features like motor type, input logic (e.g. block open if beams are triggered), and firmware updates on DEA NET boards.
1. Overview
The NET-NODE is a Bluetooth module that enables advanced setup of DEA NET230/NET24 boards through the DEAinstaller app. Using NET-NODE allows you to:
Configure motor type and operating logic
Adjust input behaviour (e.g. block opening if beams are triggered)
Update firmware with new features and bug fixes
Save and export customer-specific profiles for easy reference
Carry out changes quickly without navigating board buttons
2. Tools and Materials Required
DEA NET230 or NET24 control board
DEA NET-NODE module with supplied 5-pin connector cable
Smartphone with Bluetooth 5.0 and DEAinstaller app installed
Power supply connected to board
PPE: gloves, safety glasses, safety boots
3. Before You Start
Ensure the control board is powered down before wiring the NET-NODE
Confirm the app is installed and working on your phone/tablet
Check the device has Bluetooth 5.0 enabled
Make sure gates are closed and area is clear of vehicles and people
Have manual release keys ready in case gates move unexpectedly after configuration
4. Procedure
A. Connect NET-NODE
Power down DEA NET board
Connect NET-NODE via 5-pin NETLINK port
Power board back on
Check LED indicators:
Green: flash = idle, solid = connected
Red: on/flashing = activity/boot
Yellow: flashing = firmware update
B. Pair with DEAinstaller App
Open DEAinstaller app on smartphone
Search for device and connect via Bluetooth
Review full parameter list on screen

Export and save configuration profile in the app
5. Best Practices
Always save/export customer profiles for future servicing
Keep board firmware up to date to access bug fixes and new features
Use app notes to document site-specific logic changes
Leave NET-NODE connected for easy future access if permitted by customer
Reboot and re-test after every firmware update
